Jessica Mudditt – Founder and CEO

Jessica Mudditt is the founder and CEO of Hembury Books. She established the hybrid publishing company in 2023 because she wanted to create a fantastic alternative to existing publishing pathways.

Like so many authors, Jessica faced years of rejection when pitching her memoir to literary agents and publishers. She eventually turned to self-publishing and Our Home in Myanmar was published in 2021. Her second book, Once Around the Sun, came out in 2023.

Jessica loved the creative freedom of self-publishing, but at times it was stressful and overwhelming. She wished she had a team of professionals in her corner for support and advice.

Hembury Books combines the best parts of self-publishing with the best parts of traditional publishing.

Before establishing Hembury Books, Jessica was a freelance journalist and wrote articles for Forbes, BBC, CNN, GQ, Company Director Magazine and Marie Claire.

She was accredited as a newspaper journalist in London in 2009 and spent seven years reporting in Myanmar and Bangladesh. She has lived in Sydney since 2016.
